Beetles are back in town

While digging in a huge mountain of compost, this beetle and his family of 20 appeared out of nowhere. Rhinoceros beetles (2 – 5cm long) are quite rare in Belgium, so this was a very surprising encounter. After a short photo shoot, we tucked them back in safely and hope our compost population will sustain for many years to come.
